The Shih Tzu was accepted into the American Kennel Club in 195l, he is a distinguished, lively, sweet, and playful breed. He longs for your company, and is a very loving dog. He enjoys cuddling and because he will enjoy being on your lap, that makes him the perfect coach potato friend. He is a social dog and does well with children who are older; after all, he is only going to weigh between 9 and16 pounds when he is full-grown. The Shih Tzu does not need much exercise and will get most of his exercise from running around in the house, but a daily walk is recommended.
Because he learns much slower than other breeds, the Shih Tzu would do well with a board and train to avoid developing behavior issues.
Now you can always get a Shih Tzu from a breeder, but if you’re getting a family pet consider a rescue there are a lot of good dogs that need good home, by no fault of their own they find themselves looking for a forever home. Love Shih Tzu's consider Regan here from Crossroads Shih Tzu rescue.
